Info Burning Man 2008

We will be offering tea and music to strangers during the day hours starting Tuesday. Please stop by to say hello. So far it looks like we will be located at Fairlane and 9, but could be anywhere around 9 o'clock plaza. Look for the giant teapot and psychedelic tree on the curbside.

Here is our approximate schedule for the week. We will be posting details for each day on the board at the camp entrance:

Monday 12 am (Sunday night) - Installation opening night (see for details)

Tuesday afternoon - camp opening by our beloved resident DJ - Mr. Becker.

Wednesday afternoon - Set by DJ Fedor (Paris) - French electro, IDM.

Wednesday 9pm-midnight - Disco re-turned - Mr Becker and special appearance by very special guest.

Thursday afternoon - DJ Funky Junky - progressive trance.

Friday - 12 am (that is Thursday night) - traditional annual The Skoteka psychedelic experience - DJ Pupkin, Mr. Becker, DJ Funky Junky, followed by pancake breakfast somewhere in the middle of the desert.

Friday - 5 pm - belly dancing class by Amazing Andrea

Friday 8 pm - camp dinner party. Traditional pilaf by Igor "The Campfather" will be offered for camp members and their friends. This is an invitation-only event.

What is Chai-Hana?: It is known in Russia and Central Asia that a cup of hot caffeinated tea (black or green) served in the middle of the hot day can actually prevent overheating and even a heat stroke. Last year our camp dedicated itself to serving fresh brewed gourmet tea to our neighbors.

The name of the camp Chai-Hana actually comes from Central Asian name for the rest stop, where tired travelers could relax in shade, have a conversation and cup of hot tea. Our philosophy is to serve good tea, provide with shade, elegant music and company. We are not invasive - as a guest you do not need to participate in anything - just relax on the air couch and drink a tea from your own cup. We do have a strong belief that ambiance is as important as nourishment, and we do pay a special attention to the relaxing atmosphere that is so much needed during the heated afternoon. A professional DJ will be creating the best possible soundtrack to the tea drinking experience.


We will have a kettle sign on the side of the street highlighted during night hours (LED). During day hours we alway have someone in the camp to provide you with tea.

We also have a psy-trance party on Thursday on a playa, camp party Wednesday night and traditional pilaf dinner on Friday night.

Our camp will also host and support an artist for one of the art installations in BM pavilion.
